SKETCHBOOKS
Students work on personalizing their own sketchbook using a variety of art tools. Sketchbooks are a ritual in our class. Students can share good things from their past, present and future. Each student creates a story of their life and records their thoughts, dreams, good and not so good days. Sketchbooks are also used to collect data about the language of art and art techniques they will be learning in visual art class.

The Kindergarten art students learn about human facial features. They practice making portraits of themselves in their sketchbooks. Then they go home and study their mothers faces by looking at her hairstyle, shapes of her eyebrows, and the color of her eyes. Finally, they create a portrait of their mother for Mother's Day :)
